1. Copy and paste a picture of the first amendment.

The First Amendment of the United States Constitution protects the right to freedom of religion and freedom of expression from government interference. See U.S. Const. amend. I. Freedom of expression consists of the rights to freedom of speech, press, assembly and to petition the government for a redress of grievances, and the implied rights of association and belief. The Supreme Court interprets the extent of the protection afforded to these rights. The First Amendment has been interpreted by the Court as applying to the entire federal government even though it is only expressly applicable to Congress. Furthermore, the Court has interpreted, the due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment as protecting the rights in the First Amendment from interference by state governments. See U.S. Const. amend. XIV.

Civil Liberties vs. Airport Scanners

Prior9/11

*Rules not as strict.

* Easy and faster getting in and out of airport.

*Kitchen utensils not a big deal.

*We didn’t have full body scanners.

*Safer to fly.

Post 9/11

*There’s a list that tells you what you can pack and what you cant pack.

*It takes forever to get through security.

9/11 Remembering

I dont have memories of 911. When we talk about it in school about it is so sad. Its even sad to hear about it. All i know is that some muslims drove plans into the twim towers. It also makes me wonder why they drove them into the towers. I feel so bad for the people who had family members in the tower or got killed.

Blog 4 : Censorship

1 What is censorship

Censorship is the suppression of speech or other public communication which may be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, or inconvenient as determined by a government, media outlet, or other controlling body. It can be done by governments and private organizations or by individuals who engage in self-censorship. It occurs in a variety of different contexts including speech, books, music, films and other arts, the press, radio, television, and the Internet for a variety of reasons including national security, to control obscenity, child pornography, and hate speech, to protect children, to promote or restrict political or religious views, to prevent slander and libel, and to protect intellectual property. It may or may not be legal. Many countries provide strong protections against censorship by law, but none of these protections are absolute and it is frequently necessary to balance conflicting rights in order to determine what can and cannot be censored.

Banned books are books to which free access is not permitted. The practice of banning books is a form of censorship, and often has political, religious or moral motivations.

In class today we watched a video on Rob Legato. He talked about the titanic and he made a duplecet of the boat and it look similar to it. He also showed us how the space ship on Apollo 13 blasted off and he also showed us how it blasted off in fake life to. Another guy said everything was wrong but it was all right.
